The Nikon D5100 is more compact than the D5000, has a better positioned swiveling screen, and is full of advanced features for the money. I have used the camera for a couple weeks now and I am impressed with the image quality and the intelligent metering system. The ISO range with a maximum of 25,600 is impressive for this price point and for a 16 MP camera the IQ at high ISO is good. There's not much I do not like about this camera, although it would be nice if I could use it with older AF Nikkor lenses (non-AF-S) and still have the AF in tact.
